This course is intended for teaching five Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) lifesaving skills to nonmedical military personnel. It begins with an introduction to TCCC, defines the primary causes of preventable death on the battlefield, and highlights types of secondary injuries. The course is primarily an interactive hands-on skills training course that encompasses; rapid casualty assessment, lifesaving medical skills, and critical communication and medical documentation techniques. The skills being taught in this course have been proven safe and effective and can be performed by someone with no medical training. There is no written exam for this course. A trainer will evaluate a student’s ability to accurately perform each skill using a skills checklist. The goal of the course is to ensure all military personnel achieve basic skills proficiency, and can help to save a life.
